Learn more about the benefits of CBD.
And no, it won’t get you high.
What is CBD? Cannabidiol is a phytocannabinoid discovered in 1940. It is one of 113 identified cannabinoids in cannabis plants and accounts for up to 40% of the plant's extract. CBD stands for cannabidiol. It is the second most prevalent of the active ingredients of cannabis (marijuana). CBD is derived directly from the hemp plant, which is a cousin of the marijuana plant. According to a report from the World Health Organization, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential.... To date, there is no evidence of any public health-related problems associated with the use of pure CBD”.
How is CBD Used? CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant, then diluting it with a carrier oil like coconut or hemp seed oil. It is made into tinctures to be taken sublingually (under the tongue), vaped, or added to products such as food, drinks, or treatments. It can also be made into balms and serums to be used topically on the skin.

What are the dosing recommendations for CBD? Due to the variety of uses and potencies of CBD, appropriate serving sizes can vary widely. Your serving size and the bioavailability of CBD will be dependent upon your body weight, metabolism, individual body chemistry, and other metabolic factors. We cannot make specific recommendations regarding serving sizes. We recommend starting with a small amount of CBD, and gradually increasing the serving until the desired effects are achieved. Many people start with 5 drops and gradually work up to 15 drops, if necessary.
Is CBD Legal? CBD is readily obtainable in most parts of the United States, though its exact legal status is in flux. All 50 states have laws legalizing CBD with varying degrees of restriction, and while the federal government still considers CBD in the same class as marijuana, it doesn’t habitually enforce against it.
Will CBD show up on a drug test? ThoughtCloud complies with the federally mandated THC limit of less than 0.3% THC by dry weight in our product. Drug tests are not uniform. Some tests with a higher THC threshold may yield a positive result. ThoughtCloud does carry a CBD formula called Sustainable Isolate that is guaranteed to be 0.0% THC-free and we recommend this product if testing positive is a concern to you. ThoughtCloud holds no liability for any positive results on a drug test. We recommend not using CBD products if this is a concern to you.
Where does ThoughtCloud hemp come from? Our CBD oil is made from plants that are grown organically in controlled, outside farm environments from carefully selected farms within the United States. All the plants are free from harmful chemicals and pesticides.
When will the oils expire? ThoughtCloud oils have a shelf life of 6-9 months, unrefrigerated. The shelf life is extended up to 3 additional months if refrigerated. This applies whether the product is opened or sealed, although regular users will go through a bottle long before they need to worry about that.
What is the difference between coconut oil and cold-pressed hemp? The only difference between the coconut full spectrum blend and the hemp full spectrum blend is the carrier oils that sustain the cannabinoids. We recommend using the coconut oil for a milder flavor but offer the hemp version for consumers who have an allergy to coconut, which has a more earthy, herbal taste.
